Personal training is the most effective way to safely reach your fitness goals. Your life is busy and finding time to get in shape is difficult; our professional trainers enable you to maximize your workout. Every workout is customized to each of our clients. We offer training programs for both men and women of all fitness levels from novice to athlete. Personal training is safe, productive, motivational and flexible. We have gathered together some of Richmond's finest personal trainers to blend a variety of training specialties: weight management, toning and sculpting, pre/post natal, sports conditioning, nutritional structure and muscle enhancement. In addition to being professionally certified, all of our trainers are college educated and many have master degrees in the health field.

At Home Training


Our personal trainers are available to come to your residence to best fit your schedule. We recognize that life is hectic and your schedule is tight. At home training can save you time while providing you with a quality work out to help you reach your health goals.

Meredith is an ACE certified Personal Trainer and Spin Instructor. She has always loved the way being physically active and fit has made her feel. She believes it is not just about looking good, it's about how strong and confident you feel in your own capabilities. Meredith wanted to be able to share that feeling with others by helping them reach their full fitness potential. In doing so, she has also become even more fulfilled in her own life. Meredith says: “It’s the best feeling in the world is knowing that you helped someone become a stronger and healthier version of themselves”.

Jennie Meharg is and ACE certified personal trainer with a background in dance, distance running, yoga and Pilates.
Jennie also received a certificate from the NeuroFit Network as a PWR! Trainer, capable of working with Parkinson’s disease patients. She is also registered with the AARP through ACE Fitness.

Other certificates Jennie holds with ACE are Lifestyle Weight and Management and Pilates mat training.

Jennie works with a wide variety of clientele, young and old, and draws from her varied background to create challenging and fun workouts to keep her clients meeting their goals.
Jennie also teaches barre and bootcamp.

Thomas showed great athletic ability early on in life. His interest in health,fitness and sports allowed him to segway into a career as a professional wrestling referee. His constant exposure to the athletic lifestyle made the choice of being a certified personal trainer an easy one. Clients enjoy his philosophy of fun,progressive and innovative exercises.

Myron graduated from Old Dominion University with a BS Degree in Exercise Science. He is also an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. Myron has always loved sports and this translates into his training. He enjoys teaching bootcamp style workouts and using discipline and fun to get a good workout. His main goal is to help people meet their fitness goals so that they can live happy and healthy lives.

   
   

With a BS in Exercise Sports Science from East Carolina University and an ACSM Health/Fitness Specailist Certification, Cliff is a great fit for training any type of personality and reaching any goal set. Growing up Cliff was always outside and active in sports. Being healthy inside and out has always been his goal. His style of training is a combination of intense boot camp and cross fit. This type of training is designed for constant variety which stops the muscles from gaining memory and in turn burns more fat and speeds up the metabolism for every body type. With this type of training the client gains knowledge of different skill sets and ways to change up each routine to obtain the ultimate experience and achieve individual goals. Cliff knows the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and shows it in everyday life. Cliff is energetic, uplifting and positive and has a nack for recognizing and tending to each clients’ specific fitness and nutrition needs. With him on your side, you will gain confidence and make healthy changes that will last.

"Last year, I was travelling for work and read a US Weekly magazine about Heidi Klum’s amazing post-baby figure. When asked how readers could get her results, she said “you have to take into account how I looked before and be realistic about your own results.”

As a young professional with a 30th birthday looming, that quote stuck with me long after the plane landed.

I became anxious about what my post-30 or possible post-baby body might look like.

While I have always been active, running 3-4 miles a couple times a week, I began to realize that I wasn’t getting any younger and needed to commit myself to losing a few pounds and maybe toning up a bit.

So, I started running more, dieting and even bought some body-shaping DVDs but I felt like the extra work wasn’t paying off. I didn’t know it but I had hit a plateau and was becoming more and more frustrated with myself. There had been many times where I cried feeling defeated and hopeless.

I joined Richmond Balance in January of 2009, determined to step up my game and made a goal to lose10 pounds. The staff was super friendly but I was a little stand-off at first, convinced just more time on the treadmill would do the trick.

After a few months I found myself talking to Richmond Balance’s manager Brandyn Webster about my frustration with not having met my weight loss goal and she suggested an 8-week boot camp program to break up my plateau.

I didn’t know what a plateau was and she explained that one’s body can get used to repetitive workouts and results would be difficult to achieve without mixing things up.

Frustrated by a lack of results on my own, I figured what the heck – I’ll try anything at this point.

That was the first step to a dramatically different me.

Boot camp was challenging, fun and I made new friends, friends I still have today.

I also started to see my body change. I was becoming a stronger person and loved the way that made me look and feel. I felt confident and capable of anything.

In July of 2009, boot camp was coming to an end and I didn’t want to fall back into old habits. I needed someone to help challenge me and introduce new workouts into my regime so I wouldn’t plateau again. That is when I approached our Monday/Wednesday boot camp instructor, Jennie Meharg, about personal training sessions.

I have been a personal training client of Jennie’s for almost a year. We meet two days a week and she challenges me mentally and physically.

I absolutely love it!

I have a stronger, more capable body than what I ever thought possible. I feel empowered to take on new challenges: Jennie has even got me back into racing, running 5K, 8K, 15K races and working towards a marathon.

Jenni and the wonderful staff at Richmond Balance have changed my life. I am a more positive person. I am a happier person. I have a much better work/life balance and can deal with stress more effectively. The staff at Richmond Balance continues to help me set and meet personal goals that further strengthen my confidence and self-worth. I feel like a new person - a better person that I created from within and that feels amazing.

When I think back about why I joined Richmond Balance over a year and a half ago, it seems silly to me now that I would be so focused on losing a couple of extra pounds. What the people of Richmond Balance have taught me is that it isn’t about what the scale tells you, it’s the journey to becoming a stronger person and all the joy that comes with each milestone met.

"My journey began a little over a year ago with Myron Mendoza! My daughter (Lindsey) thought it would be a greatn idea to enroll in a bridal boot camp at Richmond Balance for a few months prior to her wedding. I have to say I was scared to death at the prospect of working out with a trainer! Keep in mind I'm a 54 year old woman weighing in at 187lbs with little to no organized exercise for years!

So the adventure begins! Myron worked with us three times a week, one hour sessions, for four months! By this time I lost 17lbs. which was important because I had already bought the "mother of the bride" dress two sizes too small! The pressure on Myron was fierce!

After the wedding, I decided to continue with Myron. I liked the results and so did my husband. The next thing I know, Scott (husband) is exercising with me and Myron! It's been great!

I have lost 40lbs to date; I have worked really hard to achieve this. But I really couldn't have accomplished it without Myron's knowledge, his plan, and his TLC. "I can't believe it will be 2 years this July that I started working with Thomas! Where does the time go! I was so nervous! Most personal trainers come over as someone who totally judges you at first sight, and thinks that they've got more than their work cut out for them when they get someone, like me at the time, who had a serious issue with my weight and my whole being! Thomas was SO not that person! I quickly learned that all trainers are NOT alike! "Just wanted to send you in writing the good news about how working out has lowered my blood pressure. Back in March my blood pressure was continuouly high averaging 155/90. I then went on blood pressure medication to help lower it. Since my sessions with Thomas Robinson (who I think is a great trainer) since August, my blood pressure has lowered and is not 120 / 80 and sometimes lower.
