I have always been active, running 3-4 miles
a couple times a week, I began to realize
that I wasn’t getting any younger
and needed to commit myself to losing a
few pounds and maybe toning up a bit.
I started running more, dieting and even
bought some body-shaping DVDs but I felt
like the extra work wasn’t paying
off. I didn’t know it but I had hit
a plateau and was becoming more and more
frustrated with myself. There had been many
times where I cried feeling defeated and
joined Richmond Balance in January of 2009,
determined to step up my game and made a
goal to lose10 pounds. The staff was super
friendly but I was a little stand-off at
first, convinced just more time on the treadmill
would do the trick.
a few months I found myself talking to Richmond

my weight loss goal and she suggested an

July of 2009, boot camp was coming to an

into old habits. I needed someone to help
challenge me and introduce new workouts
into my regime so I wouldn’t plateau
again. That is when I approached our Monday/Wednesday
boot camp instructor, Jennie Meharg, about
personal training sessions.

Personal Training Client since July
journey began a little over a year ago with Myron Mendoza!
My daughter (Lindsey) thought it would be a greatn idea
to enroll in a bridal boot camp at Richmond Balance
for a few months prior to her wedding. I have to say
I was scared to death at the prospect of working out
with a trainer! Keep in mind I'm a 54 year old woman
weighing in at 187lbs with little to no organized exercise
So the adventure begins!
Myron worked with us three times a week, one hour sessions,
for four months! By this time I lost 17lbs. which was
important because I had already bought the "mother
of the bride" dress two sizes too small! The pressure
on Myron was fierce!
After the wedding, I
decided to continue with Myron. I liked the results
and so did my husband. The next thing I know, Scott
(husband) is exercising with me and Myron! It's been
I have lost 40lbs to
date; I have worked really hard to achieve this. But
I really couldn't have accomplished it without Myron's
knowledge, his plan, and his TLC. My advice to anyone
interested in getting fit is to start with a trainer.
It's the jump start I needed for all the right reasons.
Thanks Myron! I've never felt better!!!" --
"Working out with
Brandyn has been a rewarding experience for me. It has
helped me to stay focused on my “end goal”,
to lose weight and increase my physical flexibility."
-- Baker Davenport
"I have always
loved sports and working out but after a shoulder injury
and three years of therapy for plantar fasciitis I lost
the desire to keep training. This of course only made
things worse. I decided to give the gym another try.
I discussed my limitations with Thomas and he designed
a variety of routines that were both fun and challenging.
Before I knew it, I was stronger and fitter than I have
ever been in my life. But most importantly, I was in
no pain. Thomas challenged me, pushing me to the limit
at every session but was always mindful of my injuries.
Working with Thomas was physically and mentally rewarding
and the experience has left me better educated about
my overall health and fitness." -- Melany Nell
"In the past, overcoming
self-imposed stigmas concerning workouts and trainers
has always been an issue for me. Richmond Balance has
afforded my husband and I a real, true sense of 'privacy'
and camaraderie. Giulianna made me feel as if I was
not just another project during her internship, but
that she sincerely wanted me to reach an attainable
exercise plan that would help me meet my goal. Her technique
and patience made me feel more comfortable than I initially
thought. With her gentle, but firm persuasion, I did
not feel as though I could not complete any exercise
that was suggested." -- Lisa Calderon
with Thomas is going great. I feel much stronger, am
thinking much clearer and have reduced a pants size
(smile). He is very thorough, supportive and knowledgeable.
My family and I are very impressed with the improvements
that I have made." -- Ms. Coles
"My training with Thomas has exceeded my expectations!
I find him to be extremely focused, professional and
he motivates me to a higher level of performance which
I am confident will yield results". -- Margaret
and Henry have been key to a realistic fitness plan
that is making me stronger and healthier. The facility
is comfortable and non-intimidating, but equipped for
all fitness levels. Not only do I feel better, but I
look better, and that sense of accomplishment has kept
me coming back week after week." --Melissa
addition to the personal training, I like best the atmosphere
at Richmond Balance. Everyone is serious about working
out, and there is no waiting for equipment." --
Balance has been wonderful to me. It is conveniently
located to where I can use it almost everyday. I have
been exercising consistently for years and had plateaud.
Their trainers created a customized, comprehensive,
routine to achieve my goals, and within six weeks I
had tremendous results. I enjoy my workouts again, and
appreciate the personal attention and friendliness the
staff has displayed. My time here is well spent."

can't believe it will be 2 years this July that I started
working with Thomas! Where does the time go! I was so
nervous! Most personal trainers come over as someone
who totally judges you at first sight, and thinks that
they've got more than their work cut out for them when
they get someone, like me at the time, who had a serious
issue with my weight and my whole being! Thomas was
SO not that person! I quickly learned that all trainers
are NOT alike! I felt as if I was a normal human, and
was treated with such respect and kindness, which in
turn, caused me to want to be there and want to lose
the weight and inches! Don't let him fool you.....he's
a great guy, but he is there to see that you reach the
goals you have set for yourself, (notice I didn't say
the goals he has set for you), and he will work you
hard! In my first 6 weeks, I lost 12 pounds. 2 pounds
a week may not sound like a lot, but to me, it was massive!!
My entire attitude on food, exercise, and how I felt
about myself had changed so completely! Thomas was able
to work me hard enough to lose 30 pounds! Incredible
to say the least! He changed me 100%, and for that,
I am truly grateful!! I had to stop training due to
financial strains, but he has been available to me,
for moral support, through emails and the occasional
phone call! He has no idea how much that means to me!
I miss working with Thomas, I really do! Anyone that
gets the chance to work with him will see changes, and
feel as if he is with you the entire way! He's super
supportive and tough at the same time! Both of which
I totally needed!! Thank you Thomas for what you have
taught me! I know I have a lot more learning to do,
and with the guidelines and routines you set for me,
I know I will see them!" -- Rene Seiders
wanted to send you in writing the good news about how
working out has lowered my blood pressure. Back in March
my blood pressure was continuouly high averaging 155/90.
I then went on blood pressure medication to help lower
it. Since my sessions with Thomas Robinson (who I think
is a great trainer) since August, my blood pressure
has lowered and is not 120 / 80 and sometimes lower.
My doctor took me off my medication last week and urges
to keep up the good work." --Carolyn McGeorge
"Thomas and I have been working together for over
a year. Not only I have dropped several sizes in my
clothes, but I have tremendously improved my strength,
balance and endurance. Every session with Thomas is
a challenge...yet I always make it through. His fun
approach and attention to my strengths and weaknesses
has really helped me to become an overall more fit and
confident person! I can't imagine how I would have made
this much progress without him! Thanks Thomas, you rock!!"
"Going to a facility to exercise has never worked
for me, but when a trainer shows up at my door, there
is no excuse for not exercising. Lara has been patient,
encouraging and inventive with the few hand-held pieces
of equipment with which I am willing to clutter my house.
I'll never think exercise is fun, but I do have to admit
I feel better for this experience." -- Over 60
Balance has been a great experience for me. I love the
small town feel and the fact that you're able to create
a relationship with the staff. I signed up for a personal
training package with Lara and have LOVED it! She's
just the thing I needed to really push me to new heights
and prove to myself that I'm much stronger than I ever
thought I could be!" -- Kristin Hedgepeth
at Richmond Balance has been an excellent trainer to
work with: the workouts are challenging, always changing,
and are geared towards my personal goals. As someone
who suffers from a back injury, I have been particularly
impressed with her ability to tailor exercises specifically
towards me and even create new regimes on the fly if
I am experiencing pain that day." -- Drew Harrigan
started working out with Jenny almost 3 months ago and
it has made such a difference in my life! Not only have
I become stronger physically, but I also have more energy
and enthusiasm for working out in general. As a young
professional with a limited amount of free time, I now
look forward to training after work instead of dragging
myself to the gym or skipping it altogether. Jenny makes
my workouts efficient and different each session, yet
every time I am pushed to my edge and can feel myself
getting stronger. I really can't imagine working out
any other way now! Thanks, Jenny!" -- Sarah
